On May 27, 2027 at 9:15 am, Mayor Gisele Pageau terminated the Emergency Declaration for the Municipality of French River that was declared under the Emergency Management & Civil Protection Act on April 15, 2026.
Levels on Lake Nipissing have continued to decline. Water levels along the French River are also expected to continue decreasing as total dam discharge is reduced. Levels are projected to drop by approximately 30 cm at Dry Pine Bay and 15 cm at Wolseley Bay by the end of the week, with forecasts indicating falling levels below the current flood limit thresholds within the next few days. Although some areas and roads within the community continue to be affected by high water levels, flooding conditions are expected to improve over the coming days.
The Municipality will continue to provide support to affected residences and will monitor levels closely. Emergency Services and Operations Crews will continue to patrol and assess the conditions of roads.
We will provide updates as new information becomes available.
The Municipality continues to maintain its WATER ACTIVITIES notice:
Boaters are urged to operate respectfully and reduce their speed on local waterways due to elevated water levels and potential hazards from floating debris. Excessive wakes can cause significant damage to shorelines and properties in low-lying areas. Residents and visitors are asked to be considerate and respectful of neighboring properties and communities.
