COVID-19 News and Notices

The Municipality of French River is constantly monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and assessing measures to prevent the spread of the virus in our communities while continuing to provide municipal essential services to the public.

 

Due to the second declared Provincial Emergency and the Stay-at-Home Order, the following is a summary of how Municipal Services are currently impacted:  

 

Municipal Office

The Municipal Office is closed to the public. Municipal Staff is only available by phone, email or by appointment. For a list of municipal contacts, please visit our Staff Directory page. 

 

Residents who wish to pay their property taxes are encouraged to take advantage of the alternative payment methods outlined on the Property Tax Payment Options page. 

 

A Drop-box (verified daily) is available outside the main entrance to the Municipal Complex for delivery of documents and/or payments.

 

Council Meetings 

Council Meetings are held virtually as scheduled, additional information is available on the Council Agenda & Minutes page. 

 

Building and Planning Services

Services will continue to be provided by phone, email or by appointment.

Landfill Site Operations

The number of vehicles entering will be controlled, please expect some delays. For Landfill Hours of Operation, please visit the Waste Management page. 

 

Libraries

Closed to the public except for the purpose of providing curbside pickup and for the return of circulating library materials. Appointments can be made by calling 705- 857-1771.

 

Municipal Parks and Playgrounds

Municipal Recreational Facilities are closed to the public.

 

Parks and Playgrounds are closed for the winter season. 

 

French River Community Ice Rink is open for ice skating only (no team sports), users must comply with the 5 people limit for outdoor social gathering. Masks or face coverings are highly recommended if physical distancing of at least two metres is not maintained.
