The Municipality of French River’s mission is to offer to its citizens a safe, convenient and comfortable community.

The Municipality of French River recognizes the needs of its citizens and is committed to providing services and facilities that are accessible to all.

Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) is to improve opportunities for persons with disabilities and to provide for their involvement in the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to accessibility faced in certain parts in the province. To this end, the ODA requires every municipal council to prepare an annual accessibility plan.

The Municipality commits to reviewing its accessibility plan on an annual basis to assess the actions taken during the previous year and to determine what measures it should implement in the coming year in order to identify, remove and prevent the barriers faced by persons with disabilities.

This report describes past efforts and actions planned for the coming year to identify, remove and prevent the barriers to accessibility faced by persons with disabilities who use the municipality’s facilities and services, whether these persons are employees, volunteers, elected officials, or groups or members of the community.

The Municipality intends to take a leadership role in encouraging accessibility, not only in terms of access, but also integration, equity, communication and transportation. This year, the Council has made a commitment to improve, on an ongoing basis, accessibility to offices, facilities and services for all members of the community.
